TALIBAN PROPAGANDA WATCH: Well, That Didn’t Take Long…

Remember how slick the Taliban’s English Voice of Jihad site was?

Well, a bit more than a week later, offline again – as well as its Pashto, Arabic and other variants.

Update:  Both sites back online – the rest still applies.

The Taliban IT people are being kept busy, in part, because of folks like those at the Jawa Report, working to get Taliban propaganda off the internet.

I understand why they don’t like the lies the Taliban tell, but does that mean only SOME people should be able to read the Taliban’s propaganda?  Like analysts or other folks who charge money to get an interpretation of what’s being said?  Can’t the general public be trusted to read and make up their own minds?

Full disclosure:  I don’t make a cent doing this, so nobody can accuse me of consultants “cutting my grass”, so to speak.

Anything that’s hidden or underground has the (unnecessary) potential of becoming more sought after or respected – something about the sweetness of forbidden fruit.

In the words of Justice Louis Brandeis, “Publicity is justly commended as a remedy for social and industrial diseases. Sunlight is said to be the best of disinfectants.”
