- F-35 Tug o’ War “The NDP is holding its own committee-style hearing into the government’s trouble-plagued F-35 stealth fighter jet project this week, inviting expert witnesses to Parliament Hill to provide evidence about the $25-billion acquisition that Conservative MPs would not allow to be heard at a committee inquiry before the Commons adjourned for the summer …. An NDP source said the party has scheduled a “roundtable” to be held on Parliament Hill Tuesday, Aug. 21, so MPs can gather information they were unable to obtain during the Public Accounts Committee hearings, which the Conservative majority attempted to end prior to the summer adjournment. The NDP roundtable will feature experts such as Alan Williams, the former procurement chief at National Defence who has spearheaded a campaign against the sole-sourced F-35 acquisition ….”
