- F-35 Tug o’ War We have a winner in the “who’ll review DND’s F-35 assumptions?” sweepstakes! “The Harper government has hired the accounting firm KPMG to crunch the numbers on the F-35 stealth fighter program. It will cost taxpayers $643,535 to conduct the independent assessment, which was ordered in the wake of a scathing auditor general’s report that accused both National Defence and Public Works of hiding the true cost of the project. The total project cost is approximately $16 million, of which the cost of building the hangar represents approximately $8.5 million. Approximately 46 new jobs were created through the construction of this hangar ….”
