Short answer from me: Michael Coren is dead wrong in a recent column about Canada’s latest fallen in Afghanistan.
Karine Blais, R.I.P.: She’s Home
This, from CanWest News Service:
“The body of Trooper Karine Blais, 21, who died Monday in a roadside bomb explosion northwest of Kandahar City in Afghanistan returned to Canada Thursday. Her remains were brought to CFB Trenton, at Trenton, Ont., at 2 p.m. (Eastern) Her body was to be driven along the stretch of Hwy. 416 known as the Highway of Heroes en route to the coroner’s office in Toronto….”

This from the Canadian Forces:
One Canadian soldier was killed and four others were injured when their armoured vehicle struck an improvised explosive device north of Kandahar City in the Shah Wali Kowt District. The incident occurred at approximately 5:00 p.m., Kandahar time, on April 13, 2009. The fallen soldier is Trooper Karine Blais, from 12e Régiment Blindé du Canada based at Canadian Forces Base Valcartier. Trooper Blais was serving with the 2nd Battalion, Royal 22e Régiment Battle Group ….
