CBC’s “The Border” in Afghanistan This Week

This just in, via e-mail, from White Pine Pictures, the producers of “The Border”:

CBC’s ‘The Border’ is set in Afghanistan in it’s upcoming episode which airs this Thursday (Nov.4th) at 9pm.  Our set designer recreated Afghanistan in Caledon, ON, where the show was shot. We really appreciate any feedback about the accuracy of the portrayal of military related issues on the show, and If it’s possible for you to post something on your blog to launch a discussion about it,  we would greatly appreciate. This feedback does get communicated to the writers and producers.

Remember – 9pm Thursday, on your local or cable CBC TV channel.  Feel free to share your thoughts after you watch.

For the record, I can’t find any open source information on the Canadian Border Services Agency (CBSA) having any presence in Afghanistan (although I stand to be corrected), but there is some comments from a senior Canadian official (then-Deputy Minister of the Afghanistan Task Force working group of senior bureaucrats) wanting CBSA to do more:

“We want to talk to the Canadian Border Services Agency (CBSA) about border management. I worked with CBSA, in the period before the election of a Hamas government, to help advise the Palestinian Authority on managing their borders with Israel – the idea being if your neighbour doesn’t feel you are running a secure operation nothing will move through and economic development stagnates. CBSA did superb work with them on border management and technology. We’ve been thinking about a similar approach to the Afghan-Pakistan border.”

UPDATE (1): Here’s a micro-preview (with no give-aways).
